MISSION
MCAT will continue to improve the quality of life for County residents and visitors by providing, in a cost-efficient manner, a readily-accessible, intermodal means of mobility for those who want to use its services, and by providing alternative means of transportation to minimize impacts of traffic congestion on major roads in the county.
DESCRIPTION
MCAT’s in-house service delivery approach offers the flexibility to assist with other critical but often unforeseen community needs such as vaccines, food services, disaster and storm evacuation. Since 2014, MCAT has focused on an Innovation “Pillar” approach to develop and grow public transportation in Manatee County. The Innovation “Pillars” approach utilizes innovative concepts in three areas:
• Infrastructure: Bus Stop Upgrades, Transfer Center Refurbishments and New Bus Buys.
• Technology: Automatic Passenger Counters, Interactive Voice Messaging, Mobile Ticketing App, CAD/AVL/MyStop App/On-Board Infotainment System, Shared plan/pay/ride App with Moovit and Digital Advertisement Demo Project.
• Service: Service Optimization and Expansion, Service Innovations, Travel Training, Mobility On-Demand Services and Frequency Improvements.

BUS STOP UPGRADES:
• ADA-Compliant Improvements for 800 Bus Stops.
• 159 shelters, 576 benches, 150 bike racks installed.
• Consistent bench coloring for north-south and east-west.

Developed outcome-based specification to update the onboard camera system for remote wireless downloads for eventually both Transit/Trolley and paratransit fleets.

New software provides remote wireless programming capabilities of bus head-sign messaging.
