MISSION
The Patterson Foundation strengthens the efforts of people, organizations, and communities by focusing on issues that address common aspirations and foster wide participation, along with ways organizations learn and share as they evolve.
DESCRIPTION
The Patterson Foundation is a fully endowed charitable entity. Rather than having grant cycles, the Foundation invests in strengthening communities. Support through the thoughtful use of assets takes time and intention. That is why the Foundation focuses on helping people engage with each other, providing expertise, encouraging learning, and sharing promising practices. By engaging people, businesses, nonprofits, government, and media around shared aspirations, The Patterson Foundation fosters wide participation to move the needle on issues that impact all of us.
The Patterson Foundation does not have a grant cycle and does not accept unsolicited proposals for funding.
SERVICES/PROGRAMS
The Patterson Foundation’s unfettered charter allows it to undertake work in ways others are not doing, cannot do, or will not do— creating unique opportunities to create meaningful change through philanthropy. The Foundation focuses on networked initiatives rather than individual organizations in the local four-county region— comprising Sarasota, Manatee, Charlotte, and DeSoto counties. Since 2010, The Patterson Foundation has supported more than 50 initiatives locally, nationally, and globally, with more than 90 percent of its funds invested locally.
